The CSSS will be conducting our general meeting on September 28th, 2009. All members are invited to attend this meeting which will take place in the student lounge in 3rd Floor Spinks.

Among the things covered at this meeting will be the election of a First Year Representative. This position is open to anyone who is taking a 100-Level CMPT course. If you’re interested in running, all you need to do is show up to the meeting on September 28th and nominate yourself. Voting will take place at the conclusion of the meeting and we will welcome our newest executive member.

Just a heads up about our first event. Unix BootCamp will be held this Saturday(September 12th) in 3rd Floor Spinks. The purpose of this event is to educate Computer Science students of all skill-levels on the ins and outs of the Unix environment. These sessions are highly recommended as you will undoubtedly be required to use UNIX on multiple occasions during your life as a Computer Science student. The cost for the event is $5 which includes a CSSS Membership and lunch. The schedule (subject to minor changes) for the event is as follows:

• 10:00AM to 11:00AM - Beginner Session
• 11:00AM to 12:00PM - Intermediate Session
• 12:00PM to 12:30PM - Lunch
• 12:30PM to 1:30PM - Advanced Session
• 1:30PM to 3:00PM - Practice Programming Contest
